If you would like to have your child baptized ‐ often called Christened ‐ then there will be a very warm welcome for you at St Leonard's Church. Your child is precious to you and precious to God and a Christening is a wonderful occasion of celebration and thanksgiving.
The occasion is so important to the church that we arrange it within our main Sunday service so that the congregation can share in your happiness and be there as an encouragement to you and your child and godparents, All your guests will be made to feel very welcome.
As a general rule Christenings take place on the third Sunday of the month at 10.00am but this does vary according to Church Festivals and special events so please check before making any other arrangements.
To arrange or talk about a Christening please contact Revd Angie Paterson (details on the "Ministry Team" and "Contact Us" pages)
If you would like to know more about baptisms in the Church of England you might like to look up the baptism link on the Church of England Web Site: http://www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals.aspx
When you have booked the Christening the member of the Ministry Team who will be taking the service will arrange to meet with you to discuss what happens at a Christening and what it all means.
It may be that wanting to arrange your child's Christening has also encouraged you to think more about the Christian Faith and some of the big questions that face us in life. We regularly run courses that will help you to explore some of those questions. Please let us know if this would be of interest to you.
